ABOUT PROJECT LIFESAVER
Project Lifesaver is the premier search and rescue program operated internationally by public safety agencies, and is strategically designed for “at risk” individuals who are prone to the life threatening behavior of wandering. The primary mission of Project Lifesaver is to provide timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children with the propensity to wander due to a cognitive condition.
Persons with Alzheimer's, dementia, autism, traumatic brain injury, or other related cognitive conditions are eligible for Project Lifesaver.
Project Lifesaver uses a small radio transmitter (about the size of a watch) that can be worn on the wrist or ankle. It emits a radio signal which has a unique frequency for each transmitter. Escambia Search and Rescue has trained searchers, and recievers ready to respond with your loved one's frequency to quickly locate them.

Nationally, Project Lifesaver has locate times averaging about 30 minutes with over 3,930 rescues. Locally, ESAR has seen locate times averaging about 27 minutes.
