ESCAMBIA SEARCH AND RESCUE (ESAR)
... so others may live.
About ESAR
Escambia Search and Rescue (ESAR) is a volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting search and rescue operations across Escambia County and surrounding areas.
Founded in 1961, ESAR is one of the oldest volunteer search and rescue organizations in the United States and the oldest in Florida. For decades, our members have responded when people are lost, in danger, or in need of help.
What We Do
ESAR provides search and rescue support in a variety of situations, including:
-
Missing or lost persons
-
Water-related emergencies and overdue boaters
-
Natural disasters and emergency response
-
Searches involving individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, or autism
Our divisions—land, marine, dive, communications/aviation, and logistics—allow us to respond in multiple environments and conditions.
Who We Serve
CESAR supports Escambia County, Santa Rosa County, and surrounding communities, assisting local agencies and first responders when additional search and rescue resources are needed.
A Volunteer Organization
ESAR is 100% volunteer-based. Our members give their time, training, and dedication to help others—without compensation.
We operate through community support and are committed to being ready to respond whenever we are called.
ESAR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Our Commitment
For over 60 years, ESAR has remained focused on one mission:
To assist in bringing people home safely.
