Is there a membership fee?
No, There are no membership fees to join Escambia Search and Rescue. ESAR is a 100% volunteer organization, and we welcome individuals who are willing to give their time, learn, train, and support the mission of helping others in our community.
How much time is required?
Time commitment can vary depending on your availability, training schedule, and the area where you choose to serve. ESAR understands that volunteers have work, family, and personal responsibilities. Do I need prior search and rescue experience?

Do i have to be physically fit?

Some positions may involve field work, walking, lifting, or operating in challenging conditions, while others support communications, logistics, social media, web, administration, or community outreach. ESAR has a variety of ways for volunteers to contribute.
Can I volunteer if I do not want to be in the field?
Yes. ESAR has several important support roles that do not require field response. Volunteers can assist with communications, logistics, administration, social media, website support, fundraising, events, and other behind-the-scenes needs that help keep the organization mission-ready.
What kind of training is provided?
ESAR provides training based on each member's role and area of interest. Training may include search and rescue basics, communications, safety procedures, land search, marine operations, logistics, Project Lifesaver support, and other mission-related skills.
How old do I need to be to join?
Members must be at least 14 years old to join ESAR. Members ages 14-17 are considered Junior Members and may have certain limitations or requirements based on age, training, and current ESAR policies. Anyone interested in joining is encouraged to contact ESAR or complete the volunteer form so a member of the team can provide the most current information.
